No man's land

The door is the warmest, most unstable zone of the fridge: every time you open it, it's the first thing to warm up. So only what handles those temperature swings well goes here.

A good top-to-bottom layout: butter and jams up top; sauces and jars in the middle (ketchup, mustard, dressings); and the heaviest at the bottom, bottled water and drinks.

And the usual reminder: eggs and milk, even if they fit in the door, are better inside on a shelf. The door is for the hardy, not the delicate.
