Day 1 · Upper shelves
The shop window
In the American fridge the upper shelves are wide and very visible: the first thing you see when you open it. They're among the least cold, so they're perfect for what's ready to eat.
Leftovers and tubs of cooked food (well covered), desserts, opened yogurts and drinks that don't need to be ice-cold. With all that width, group by 'themes' rather than piling up.
Since they're the most visible, put whatever expires soonest at the front. Raw food and eggs do NOT go here.
Art. I
«top shelves for the ready, the cooked and the light; the raw belongs lower, well out of sight.»
