Day 5 · Vegetable drawer

The garden

The lower drawers hold more humidity: the home of vegetables and leafy greens, which stay crisp instead of going limp.

Store them unwashed (water rots them sooner) and, ideally, in cloth or paper bags so they breathe. Fresh herbs last longer standing in a glass of water.

If the drawer has a humidity control, turn it up for leafy greens.

«veg in its drawer, damp and unwashed it stays; wrapped in cloth or paper, to last more days.»
